Abhyankar ================== Before starting with Part 2 let us recapitulate what we studied in Part 1. मूल धातवः, are धातवः listed in धातुपाठः which is an important annexure of अष्टाध्यायी. Apart from the मूल धातवः one gets more धातवः in two ways” - with prefixes सोपसर्गाः (स+उपसर्गाः = उपसर्गसहिताः) आतिदेशिका: with suffixes सप्रत्ययाः i.e. प्रत्ययसहिताः Note, आतिदेशिकाः धातवः are obtained by the सनादयः (सन्-आदयः) प्रत्ययाः affixed both to मूल धातवः and to प्रातिपदिकानि i.e. नामानि, सर्वनामानि, विशेषणानि. One obtains आतिदेशिकाः धातवः because the culture of linguistics of Sanskrit seeks to provide for the formation of such words, by which a thing can be said by fewer words.
